I do not have the patience to deal with the Zon’s BS today. Yeah, I am feeling that old familiar feeling where I get a tickle and fatigue and I do not have time for this. So hoping it’s nothing. Drinking some tea, some green tea, honey and apple cider vinegar, but also dealing with the bullshit that is the zon got this email. I was so excited, so excited.
After reading a comment that said you could now order author copies through KDP out front way before your book release. It used to be like two weeks. That wasn’t going to be long enough for me because I want to make sure I have copies in time for my launch party. And Ingram is an option. It’s fine, it’s just slower.
It’s more tedious. I was thrilled to find out that KDP had this option until it wouldn’t work for me for whatever reason. Put in a ticket, talked to support it, got this email. So just a PSA for my other indie authors out there. You cannot.
If you also have your book listed on ingramspark, you cannot order your author copies in advance from KDP. You can still do it from Ingram Sark, which is what I’ll have to do. But their shipping times are longer and actually their print costs went up and it’s now more expensive. I don’t know if they went up. It’s more expensive.
I don’t know if it was always like that. Why keep it on Ingramspark? Why not just do it on the zon? Because Ingramspark is where bookstores can order. Ingramspark allows you to do paperback pre orders when all KDP lets you do is ebook pre orders.
Is there a benefit for having paperback pre orders available? I don’t know. Is there a benefit to even offering pre orders? I don’t know, and I’m too exhausted to really think about it. There’s a little PSA to sump to my fellow indie authors.
And just a word of advice, if you are also listing your book on Ingramspark, be careful. Earned cost of my book is actually a little more over a dollar, a dollar more on Ingram’s bark than it is on KDP. There’s that as well. Their shipping times are a little bit longer. It seems like you can pay to get faster shipping and faster printing times, which I now might have to do just to make sure I have my books in time for my launch party.
It’s. It’s a lot. I’m very excited about my upcoming launch, but I’m very tired. I have a happy hour tomorrow night that I host a writing happy hour. And then Saturday and Sunday I have a festival.
I’m a part of a two day festival. So really hoping whatever this all is goes away. Hoping I can get some energy back. So wish me luck. Hope that information was helpful.
I will continue to update you on my journey so that you don’t have some of these hiccups on your self publishing journey. Have a wonderful day.
